Find a tag you scanned before

3 min de lecture

Hex NFC keeps a copy of the tags it reads, so you can open a scan again with the tag nowhere near you. Your recent scans sit in the Library on your iPhone, newest first. Pin the ones you want to keep.

Open a scan you made before

You need a tag you have already read; until you scan one, History is empty. See Scan a tag.

  1. Étape 1Open Hex NFC

The app opens on the home screen, which carries the Scan, Build, Library and Advanced tiles.

  2. Étape 2Open the Library

Tap Library. The Library screen opens on Presets.

  3. Étape 3Go to your scans

At the top of the Library screen, tap History, to the right of Presets. Each row is headed by the chip's name, with the tag's UID and how long ago you read it underneath.

  4. Étape 4Open the scan

Tap the scan you want. The Library closes and the scan opens in the Tag screen, holding the records and the chip details from the tap that made it.

A transit card opens in the Transit card screen instead, read-only, the way it opened when you read the card. A passport read is never saved, so no passport appears in this list. See Read a passport.

Pin a scan you want to keep

The list holds 50 scans. When a new scan arrives and the list is full, the oldest unpinned scan drops off the end. An unpinned scan also goes 90 days after the read that made it, however short the list is. Where a re-scan drops back onto a row you already have, that counts as a fresh read and the 90 days start again. A pinned scan is outside both rules and stays until you delete it.

Scans are listed newest first and nothing on the screen searches them, so pin the ones you will want to find again.

  • To pin a scan, swipe right on it in History, then tap Pin.

A pinned scan carries a pin at the left of its row in place of the usual icon. It keeps its place in the list rather than moving to the top. On a scan that is already pinned the same swipe action reads Unpin, and unpinning puts the scan back in the count of 50.

Delete a scan

  • To delete a scan, swipe left on it in History, then tap Delete. Swiping all the way across deletes the scan straight away.

What the history holds

Before you read anything, History reads "No scan history", over the line "The last 50 tags you scan show up here. Pin one to keep it."

  • Read the same tag again. If nothing about the tap has changed, the scan you already have moves back to the top of the list. No second row appears. Anything different in the chip details, the records or the tag's password protection gives you a new row instead.

  • Scans stay on this iPhone. They reach your iCloud account only when you turn on iCloud sync, which is off to start with. See Privacy and your data.
